About Four Hills Farm

The Four Hills Farm Difference

At Four Hills Farm, we strive for excellence for our animals, farmers, and consumers. We are the first sheep farm in the United States to earn a GAP 4 step-rating for our animal welfare practices, and each farm in our network is audited annually. What does that look like in practice? We produce our sheep with:

  • A farming system based on excellent pastures, rotational grazing, and free-range animal production
  • All vegetarian feed
  • No feedlots, antibiotics, added hormones or steroids used
  • Product traceability and quality production assurance systems in place

    The Guardians

Our flock management is dependent on livestock guardian dogs. We usually have a group of six or so whose job it is to guard the sheep. We live along a wooded creek where coyotes and bobcats roam. An electrified boundary fence helps, but the dogs’ nocturnal call and response with the coyotes keep the sheep safe. We have never suffered a coyote kill at this farm in Woodford County.
